Both were great shows, Buffet primarily for the party vibe he lays down, and Matthews, as always, did not disappoint. As usual, he threw out a two-and-a-half hour, high energy, wall of sound with non stop hits that just kept building in intensity throughout the night. I don't know any other artist that puts so much of himself into each performance, and the crowd responds in like fashion, even for a Wednesday night. Really a great show, made more significant because DM announced that they would not be touring in 2011, so it may be a couple of years before I see one of my favorite bands perform again. The only thing that could have possibly made it any better would have been a guest appearance by Bret Michaels
Great electrical storm during the second half of the show that added to the excitement, but left me standing in the pouring rain next to my car for an hour and a half after the show waiting for the traffic gridlock to clear before making my way home.
It was great being able to plug into Ben's party, it was a great group of friends, enjoying a party that spanned two nights. It was a big energy commitment on my end to make it work, during a very critical week at work. Was it worth the energy? I'm not sure, probably not. Would I do it again, probably.
I guess that's the point - Life is what you make it. It was a great opportunity to connect with friends and enjoy some really great music, even when you have pay the price..
