This past weekend the Red Bull Air Race series stopped in Detroit. I went down for the race on Sunday with Ben and some friends. Although the event had sold out weeks in advance, we managed to grab some good tkts.
It was quite impressive to see the planes fly the course so close to the water. Working on the river, I most enjoyed seeing the Thursday practice day. I saw no less than a half dozen cone strikes, with one guy flying right through the middle of one.
Without a closeup lens, I didn't feel there were any photo worthy opportunities.
Highlight of the day for me was seeing Mike and his wife and talking kite boarding with the both of them. Right now I'm tentatively scheduled for a three day kite camp the weekend of June 20, but I'm probably 50/50 at best given my work situation.
