Christmas in Northern Michigan

Holidays were spent in Harbor Springs with Family. It seems to be the one time of year we're able to all come together for a few days and enjoy each others company. Time was spent Skiing, exploring the Upper Peninsula and Snowmobiling.
St Ignace, MI. This was a 60 degree day, which put a hamper on our plans to visit Drummond Island, a place my family had a cottage when I was young. Visibility came down to about 100 yards with fog so we just turned around with another 60 miles to go.

Hessel, MI.

Crazy looking dog. He was barking like mad at me and acting very aggressive, I got down to take his picture and his tail went between his legs and he took off as quick as he appeared. Very strange behavior.
Lower & Upper Tahquamenon Falls, Paradise, MI.
About a one mile hike to the lower falls, as the access roads are closed in the winter. Susan and I made the hike and got really lucky with the conditions. We were the only ones back there without snowshoes, but we came on a day with about three feet of hard pack snow so we made the trip without much trouble. The falls are set in a State Park that has some really unique and remote costal terrain, but it's a big trip to get there, even from Harbor Springs. Really need at least a week to explore the area.
For the Upper Falls, my dad and I did a big hike on a closed trail with conditions deteriorating. By the time we got about a half mile down river to set up for a nice shot of the falls up stream it was a complete white out with big wind. It was a wet heavy snow and trees were cracking all around us. He was underdressed and his feet paid the price.
Nubs Nob
Emma, Bryan and crazy yellow jacket hat guy.
Bryan going big and comin' up short.
Mitch - Airwalker.
